6 Ways to Increase Your Storage Space
Small bedrooms can be a pain when you’re looking for ways to store your things without having your bedroom seem cluttered and disorganized. Here are our smartest ways to store everything, including shoes and jewelry if you have a smaller bedroom.
- Use Multiple Types of Storage
In a small bedroom, a variety of storage types can help maximize flexibility and help to take advantage of every nook and cranny. A nightstand offers both surface area and open and closed storage; a basket provides portability for other items; and an open shelf stores a few items and offers some space for display too!
In smaller bedrooms, anything besides the bed should be scaled down to reduce visual clutter. That includes bedside tables. Look for pieces that offer multiple storage options — such as a drawer and an open shelf.
- Look in Unexpected Places
Backs of closet doors are a perfect and subtle way to plan your outfits for the next day or two without anyone having to see it! It’s a great way to stay organized and reduce clutter around your bedroom. Install one pole and one over-the-door hook to do this. Oft-worn accessories or other dressing items can also be put in easy reach, thanks to narrow hooks and plastic holders.
- Clean Up Your Floor
Mount cubbies on the wall for bedside storage, but pack away any items that aren’t used daily in decorative boxes that you can place under your bed. To gain even more storage space, combine a few different-size storage cubes. Wall-mounted storage clears floor space and can visually make a room look bigger.
- Keep Out-of-Sight Spaces Cleaned Up
A closed drawer is an invitation to clutter, especially in small bedrooms. Collections of pretty dishes become the perfect drawer dividers, holding grooming and dressing supplies. For tabletop items, try decorative trays to keep bedroom supplies organized.
